Privacy Policy

SeatSniper ("we", "us") helps McGill students get notified when seats open in their courses. This policy explains what we collect and why. We keep it short because we collect very little.
What we collect
- Your McGill email - used once to verify you're a real McGill student and to recover your account. We never sell it or send marketing without your consent.
- The courses you watch - so we know what to monitor and alert you about.
- A private notification channel - a randomly generated ntfy topic used to deliver your push alerts.
- Payment status - if you upgrade, our payment processor (Stripe) handles your card; we only store whether your access is active. We never see or store card numbers.
- Basic technical data - standard server logs and rate-limiting data to keep the service secure.
What we do NOT collect
- Your McGill/Minerva password or login - we never ask for it and never touch your registration account.
- Card numbers - those go straight to Stripe.
- We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
Course data
SeatSniper reads publicly available McGill course-availability data. We are an independent tool and are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by McGill University.
Third parties we use
- Stripe - payment processing.
- Resend - sending verification emails.
- ntfy - delivering push notifications to your device.
- Fly.io - hosting.
Each only receives the minimum data needed to do its job.
Your choices
You can remove any course alert at any time in the app, which stops monitoring it. To delete your account or data entirely, contact us at hello@seatsniper.ca and we'll take care of it.
